The Island 26

The Path of Shared Rhythm

Every living thing moves with a rhythm that echoes through the land. When you match your breath to the world, you feel the pulse beneath all things. This is the first doorway to resonance with nature.

What in tarnation is David doing back there while Renate is distracted? Is he trying to sneak a KitKat bar out of his pocket? Once again, CoPlot gives us an alternative view of cave life in French Polynesia. CoPlot AI generated image hilariously tolerated by the author.

Light brightened until the air felt energized. Renate kept her palm on the stone, the warmth beneath her hand steady and calm, a pulse shot up her arm. Its source had waited centuries for a listener. Light gathered at her feet and lifted her awareness from the chamber.

The cave dissolved. Stone dissolved. Even the sound of her breath faded.

A new landscape formed.

She stood in an expanse of dark water reflecting a sky without stars. Ripples spread outward in perfect rhythm, each carrying a memory, each memory carrying a voice.

A woman knelt beside a fire, tracing spirals in ash as if confiding in the earth. The island listened.

A shaman carved constellations into stone with rough hands, each line shaped with the patience of someone who understood that time was alive. The island listened.

A child placed a bowl into hot coals, waiting for fire to reveal the pattern hidden in the glaze. The island listened.

Water rose around Renate’s ankles. Ripples touched her skin and carried the memories upward. Forests breathed in long, slow waves. The kiln glowed like an ember in the island’s heart. The cave revealed itself as a chamber of thought, and she stood within that thought as both witness and participant.

Reflections shifted. David walked beside her through the forest. The vine glowed beneath her skin. The island’s pulse moved through both of them.

A final ripple formed, silent, carrying no voice. Instead, an image surfaced: a figure standing at the cave’s mouth, neither man nor woman, shaped from light and memory. Its outline flickered like a flame cupped against the wind. It raised its hand, and the vine on Renate’s arm brightened in response before the figure stepped back into darkness.

The water fell away. The chamber returned. Stone returned. Her breath returned.

David watched her with steady eyes.

“What did you see?”

Renate lowered her hand. The glow softened.

“The island is able to form its consciousness through us,” she said. “Every life that ever touched it has shaped it in ways that benefit the island and it’s caretakers. It acknowledges and welcomes us knowing we are finite and it is infinite. After us, it will wait for the next caretaker to understand the patterns.”

David looked around. “Is there more for us to see, to understand?”

She nodded. “The island is ready to make a covenant with us.”

The cave illumination flickered and shadows seemed to form illusions of movement.

  1. Didn’t see that coming but it was in the back of my mind. Or am I jumping the gun and there’s more to there story? 🙂

    1. Lots more M. They still have to get out of the cave and what happens after that?

      1. I’m having to stretch my brain a bit to 100% buying in their experiences but love the story. Your stories often have a love story which I like. 🙂

  2. I see you’ve once again posted a chapter on the same bat channel at the same bat time.
In the bat cave where the Bat Mobile has gone missing.
Renate seems to have gained a lot of weight since the last CoPilot AI Image of her.
No doubt Renate will have a lot to say to the AI about that.
And David seems to have gone from a full beard back to 2 days facial hair growth.
The shaman seems to bear a striking resemblance to George Washington.
Although the AI is to be congratulated for having the child look like a child.

    1. LOL! Loved the reference to the old Batman Series. I did notice Renate had a very strong looking right arm. Clearly, island living is hard work. I think they might be traveling back in time so David’s beard will get shorter and Renate’s figure will return to her early 20s again. I think that is necessary to maintain a high level of beach frolicking.

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Go to DeepAI.Org
Describe the scene you’d like to see.
            Write in full length prose.
Don’t bother with short brief descriptions and a lot of commas like they recommend in most AI Image generating sites.
Describe in full detail what you want to see and then hit Generate.

  3. Now the Island is ready to accept the new caregivers and have placed their trust in them. The cave will no longer be a mystery or even exist as a separate entity but for now becomes an extension of the island until again the time comes for new inhabitants to oversee the secrets of this paradise. Truly lovely, Dan, a perfect tale of paradise found.
On a side note, I did see the Coplot scene coming. Thanks ever so for not changing anything. Lmao.

    1. I love that we’re seeing what the island is doing. I remember our discussions of the Island or Niburu as options. That was fun to suspend reality to better accommodate the escape. And of course It would not be nearly as much fun without CoPlot’s strange interpretations. It’s like the story Tribal about Capt Rae and her slapstick sidekick Ralph the AI. I’ve finished rewriting that story for publishing also. Once I get around to formatting it, I’ll post it up in the library too.

            1. Monday the cave adventure ends with the big twist. I had a little fun by ending the scene with Renate getting mad at CoPlot for drawing her without any shoes. Friday and the following Monday, I’ll be at Ichetucknee Springs at Fort White Florida, hoping to see a mermaid while Kayaking the Springs and Santa Fe River. However, I’ve schedule those chapters to post automatically. We’re back to fun again after a little time for Renate to get over the Cave and the weirdness she endured from the AI.

Have yourself a fabulous time down here, y’all. I’ve never seen the Sante Fe River , kayaking sounds amazing.
Renate has had a pretty fun time with AI. She doesn’t appreciate the aging process or the very muscular right arm ( that’s what happens when you dig for days in a cave). I’m sure the finale will make up for it.

                1. CoPlot made her caboose look a little chunky in the final scene so she really lowers the boom on him for that too. We make it up to Renate later when she notices she is reversing her age. David noticed right away too. The Sante Fe River is really nice and has a few rapids when the water level is low. Fort White is one of those small towns with no infrastructure. The only store is a dollar general. I bet they do a good business. Last year I kayaked on the Wekiva near Mt. Dora. It was quite the challenge because it is very narrow in places and WILD. It was beautiful and I noticed it was a big hot spot for the Cuban families. They were more into the swimming so the kayaking once you leave the doc isn’t crowded at all.

                  1. Coplot owes her a better caboose.
Not intended to rain on your parade but be careful in the Wekiva River. It’s mating season for gators here and a young woman who was swimming in the Wekiva with her boyfriend was killed by a large gator.
I canoed in the loxahatchee a few years ago and there were giant gators chilling under some trees along the bank and we went very close and they barely opened an eye at us. Anyway, that happened two weeks ago in the Wekiva.

                    1. Holy Smokes! I saw a lot of smaller gators when I was there. I can remember how we learned gator survival when around water as a kid. But people who have no clue how dangerous they are aren’t ready for what happens next. That’s really awful. Gators are out for control all over the southern states now and they are starting to get big and plentiful. That’s really sad.

    1. Waaaaa haaa haaa! You noticed David slacking didn’t you 😅. Renate gets her due in the sweetest way very soon. She puts him to work while she rests. All that energy running a constant rose vine light and generating visions has to be very tiring. I think I keep misspelling Nibiru but, that might mean there are several options to go visit the Anunnaki demigods that are flying around here in flying saucers trying to keep the Nephilim under control. 😎🛸

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I did notice that. Visiting the demigods is always an option, gotta get out of the cave first and get the saucer out of the garage , no slacking.

            1. I think there is something deeply psychological about caves. It’s a totally different world. I was trying to think of how I could bring the story to life and I thought, just stick to their story already established. Two people with extraordinary experiences wherever they go seem to say, they aren’t just regular folks having fun. They are a new archetype gaining wisdom that we cut ourselves off from centuries ago.

              1. Caves are very mysterious and one always wonders what they will find there. This cave was meant to be discovered by Renate and David , that is why they’ve found themselves here after all their explorations and travels to distant destinies. For the future it seems they will be the islands caretakers and in exchange it will provide them with a place of refuge. They are not the first to find themselves here in this ancient world nor the last.

                1. Whoops, lost another comment. That’s a big downer with using WP. It doesn’t save your comment until you hit the send button. One slip and POOF! Gone. I was writing you had it exactly right. I wanted to give the island that feel of deep connection. I first witnessed this in Saudi Arabia. The Bedouins cross the many deserts on the peninsula without any visible wear and tear. The Empty Quarter is as desolate as place as one could ever hope to find, but when you get out there in that great inhospitable expanse of dunes and see a camel caravan or Bedouin camp set up, you learn why they prefer there lifestyle to living in the cities. The hostility of nature humbles you and crushes all signs of empty ego. You know who the master really is. Eventually, you see its magic and allure. At night it’s so clear the stars seem to come down on top of you. For centuries the Bedouins have crossed the dunes and they have mastered life on the sand. I watched and learned. The island is paradise but it must be respected because it chooses who lives there and who cannot.

Lol… could not resist, after all Dracul has given me a humorous allowance.

Hahaha… CoPlot put weight on Renate…Damn that CoPlot!

Still, I want to see where and how it all ends. We do need to get back to the ideals of nature/natural life and rhythms. Oh – and thinking for ourselves.

As opposed to.. AI eyewear… so you can have AI with you all day, thinking for you. I actually saw a report on that today. If people do not see the danger, the Big Brother in that, they are already a lost zombie; a vessel to fill with whatever the puppet masters want.

Thank you for writing this tale, Dan!

    1. Today, the cave mystery is solved. It was a glitch in CoPlots scene image creation. Renate has enough of the AI messing up her clothing ensemble, losing her shoes, and making her behind look too big in her khakis and gives CoPlot an ultimatum. Then, Renate and David leave the cave. After some rest and relaxation, they are back to building infrastructure and exploring the island this week.

            1. Recently, we’ve noticed a huge uptick in untrained deputized gangsters beating, tasing, pepper spraying, and shooting people and leaving the verification of ID to the coroner. While that might seem to be an efficient way to depopulate certain areas of the country, it’s quite stressful on the recipients of such efforts. Of course, many of them descended from seal pup clubbers.

                    1. What’s particularly diabolical is appointed positions are the top spots and we don’t get a vote on who fills those positions. Unlike career civil service, they are like rented CEO’s. They get to keep their spots unless a new administration replaces them. So, that’s the hope.

                    3. When I need some comic relief, I watch the Congressional proceedings to vet new appointees. There is so much faux hate and monkey business for public consumption, then behind closed doors, they usually approve the candidate and then the real wreckage begins.

                    4. Faux hate? Hmmm. I’m not surprised. Many many years ago my boss invited an American client of ours (and me, I was handling his account) to one of the most expensive restaurants in Paris. Magnificent food of course, but the restaurant was close to Congress, and full of politicos of all sides. And I watched in disbelief how new arrivals would go and shake hands with their best ennemies, crack jokes when some had insulted each other in the afternoon or the previous week…

                    5. Yes! I saw the same thing. Or government had federal laws, and policies that set the boundaries of what was accepted and what was not in terms of individual behavior. We had the added rigor of following Robert’s Rules of Order in Congressional procedures. While the grand standing in public was purely for the consumption of the public, behind closed doors they shared their favorite bourbon or scotch, talked about golf or social events and then conspired to pass legislation that would, 1. Enrich them personally, 2. Gain party favor. 3. Help center power on themselves. And 4. Sacrifice some other Representative’s constituents for the benefit of their own. That began to erode significantly during the Obama administration and then completely evaporated during the Trump 1.0 administration. Now, there are no public cordial formalities although the laws were never changed. However, the 4 points referenced above are still strongly pursued away from the cameras.
