It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

Would you think less of me if I told you not only am I a scientist, I am also an ordained Aaronic Priest? My journey through the world’s religions started in my early teens and caught fire in my college years when I studied World Religions. I was shocked to find out there was more to religious history than the the doctrine of the United Methodist Church I grew up in.
I dedicated my life to learning the deepest secrets of the cosmos from scientific principles and the reasons why religion caused so much suffering. I was fortunate to travel the world and to learn from people of other cultures and religions and to judge for myself what was right and what was wrong.
There was an abundance of life lessons, more so than any university dedicated to theology. While I can easily say, I am no expert, I can say I have learned a great deal on the subject of human behavior and the fragility of faith based on trust of the unknown and unverifiable.
So what, you might say. Everybody has the right to believe what they want to believe and you would be right if that was your thought. We all have free will and personal agency. What we don’t have is the depth of understanding about consequences of free will and personal agency. We bristle at being told how to act, what to believe, and how to conduct ourselves in public. We disagree with the current war of ideologies that have melded into political intrigues.
If you are an aesthetic that has renounced the world to live in poverty without possessions, you may be less affected by the slashing wounds of social upheaval. It matters now if you are liberal, moderate, or conservative because no matter what you choose, you are hated by the other two. Or, so it would seem if one is a fan of main stream news and the internet. It only matters who has power, wealth, and the means to enforce rules. To resist means to suffer. Some suffer greatly, others suffer gladly, and still others move quietly between the seams of dogma and indignation.
How can anyone survive with their mental health intact during this period of the final apostasy? Saint Thomas’ book of the new Testament was removed from current Christian bibles because he documented the words of the Christ that were counter to the desire of early church leaders to aggregate power and wealth and strengthen their uncomfortable alliance with Kings and Tyrants.
In my own words, St. Thomas wrote that Jesus said if you are looking for Heaven in the sky then the birds have already arrived in Heaven before you. This admonition of the followers was followed by an explanation. Heaven is within you and each person chooses their level of Heaven or Hell. This does resonate with the newest revelation of self empowerment and self love as being necessary and not selfish.
I navigate this world of woe unencumbered by ideologies, theologies, governments, edicts, superstitions, and other maladies that destroy kindness, compassion, and true charity to the less fortunate. I focus on living a virtuous life found in every religion known to man and practiced over the last 300,000 years. I work hard to abstain from pettiness and the pure hunt for pleasure although joy and contentment can be linked to pleasure.
I stand alone with my beliefs and cannot be corrupted by the multitude of sins available to us. I am human and thus faulty as a string of Christmas lights with several bulbs blown. I do suffer greatly from my mischievous cynical sense of humor. I try to be righteous, humble, and unpolluted by the world. This helps me stay unaffected by the vast suffering and iniquity of this angry blue planet. Then, I roll up my sleeves and do what I can to minister to the souls that cry out to me.
If I am not a scientist and Aaronic Priest, would you feel less interested in resolving your own challenges according to my message? I say, I don’t matter at all. What matters is you and what lives inside your heart and your fertile mind.
I beg you to go in peace and with love.
